SARONG SUNDAY DREAMING

My favorite Sarong makes a comfy alternative for a lazy Sunday . The dark , cold day led to many movies including the Sixth Sense . I love that movie !

I look so Frowney !  My  smile is an enigma ! When I don't smile , I look really sad or mad , but I am uncomfortable with my smile, ( no braces , thus a bit crooked ), and I end up looking like " The Joker " !
Oh well , perfection isn't one of my qualities . Boy am I glad ! Can you imagine living up to being perfect all the time ?  Yikes !

This off - kilter sweater is another cozy favorite . A simple white T underneath , and a loose scarf for the cozies , too !  I wear thin leather flats for running in or out .

Soon , in a few days , I will be going out of town to visit my lovely Mom, with lots to sew and lots of Thrifting !  Also , the weather is gonna hit the 50's and be Sunny !!!!  I am in desperate need of a vitamin D boost !
I have specific things I am looking for while thrifting , like these :

A big straw hat .

A natural leather bag .

Long , full , floral dresses or skirts .

Tiny floral prints for shorts .

Some super - tall  funky clogs .

The "Country Boho"  looks .

Full , Full , Full  legs !

Adorable Spring / Summer dresses . Floral , of course !

And of course , any cool skirt !!!

I can't leave for a few more days , but am getting excited and am ready to pack .  My Mom and I have many giggle - fests !  She is my best friend . Plus , she can sew like a Magician !  ;-)

See you tomorrow !

Sarong : World Market.

SIMPLE GRAY TUNIC WITH LEG WARMERS AND A CAMERA !

I SWEAR , NO ONE WILL SEE THESE !

I love taking photos . Always have !  I've always had a camera , including every kind of Camera I can think of.  Remember the Kodak that held a Big film pack inside - you would shoot , pull out the photo , wait for 60 seconds , peeled off the backing ( gently ) and there was a square 4x4 color Photo !  Then of course , the Polaroids , the self-loading "automatic" ones that only fit a 200 size film roll ?  Then the kind you "hooked " the film strip to and had to wait over a week for your photos ?  My favorite was a 35 mm Nikon , which I always bought Black and White film for .  There were No editing tools other than your imagination !

Now , I rarely see a Real printed  photograph !  Most photos live in the dark , inside a computer . My old computer has so many photos still in it !  I miss the anticipation of picking up film and having 3 whole photos turn out well !  But , I also Love the idea of snapping away , no longer worried about getting that One Good Shot .  Now , my "real" camera seems like too much trouble to lug around sometimes !  I like the idea of editing my shots . I suppose everything has an Upside and a Downside .  Am I really wearing Purple and Gray today ?  YEP.................

It was soooo windy !  My tri - pod  fell over twice !  Luckily the cheapo was on it at the time , and only got scratched a little bit !

I bought 2 of these tunics last year , when I was into buying 2 of the things I liked and fit well . ( And usually in a neutral color ). I added a T-shirt dress underneath for length , and tied a scarf around my waist . The leg-warmers are my newest addition to my accessory drawer . Over purple tights and a Grape beret I felt cozy and not too hookerish ;) - Brown shoes for contrast , and a Bright purple round scarf gave me my dose of Brightness . Small  Amethyst earrings felt right as not to get hung in my scarf !

I think I will devote my weekend to snapping up some creativity !

Happy Friday !

( See all the Wind ?! )

SIMPLE HAND - SEWN FLORAL SKIRT

LOOK MA ,
I DID IT AGAIN !
HOPEFULLY BETTER THIS TIME !

Another hand-sewn skirt . This time I added real pleats and hope they hold ! I cut off the bottom of another floral dress and stitched a few pleats into the top . It slid on perfectly, and the belt holds it really snug . I will soon learn how to add zippers , thanks to my Mom. I usually go for elastic , but with the pleats , the elastic wasn't needed ( yet ).

RAMBLINGS :
I read a blog yesterday about a girl who was getting stuck in routine , and at the end of the week , she couldn't remember what she did with her time . She suggested trying something new today , and Creating a memory . So , I am up before 8:30 A.M. -an Olympic Record in my book ( let's face it - that's as exciting as the real Olympics this year ) !  I am going with someone to the hospital for bloodwork , and give moral support , then taking them out to brunch !  At least it's Different , and who knows where the day will take us !

My husband and I watched The Diary of Anne Frank last night . TCM is showing a month of Oscar winning movies this month . Shelley Winters won Best Supporting Actress . Boy , did I feel Grateful and Sad all at the same time . I felt ashamed of having cabin fever this winter . Anyhoo...........

I added red beads , a purple turtle-neck and my fav. tights. My hat has a 70's flower pin attatched .
Simple hoop earrings and boots with socks.

Have a Grateful Day !

Pashminas , Long Skirts , and Ramblings

I RECENTLY "STRETCHED" MY BLOG ! LET ME KNOW HOW YOU LIKE IT !

I am gonna be cutting this skirt off (probably) soon , so I wanted to get another wearing out of it. I paired it with a Pashmina and some cool accessories.

A simple black T , Belt , and
of course , my favorite boots , too !

This "Necklace" has a lovely story surrounding it.
Well , not really "lovely" but cool.
Actually sad , but meaningful.

I bought this at a Gothic store in Covington , KY, across the bridge from Cincinnati. It was hand-made and designed by a woman who's daughter was attacked and killed by a rapist many years ago. She started making these Secret Weapon Necklaces for women to carry around to keep them from harm. All proceeds from these Necklaces go to charity. It is legal size and is not considered a "concealed" weapon.
I paid alot for it at a time when I really couldn't afford it , but this Mother's love really touched me.

I found these tips on wearing pashminas :

How to wear pashmina

Pashmina shawls can be termed as ‘beauty with purpose’. These protect you from cold, and enhance your beauty too.
Let us see how you can have a celebrity look in Pashmina:
  • Pashmina shawls and scarves are versatile accessories. These can be draped in several styles. For example, drape your long Pashmina scarf in a loose knot similar to Lindsay Lohan. Ms. Lohan draped the long scarf behind her neck and tied a loose knot in the front for an utterly casual and chic look.
  • Jessica Alba loves to wear her scarf differently with different clothes, and she is successful in creating stunning looks for herself. Let us have a look at how Jessica creates different looks

    1. Wear a black tight tee shirt and flowing skirt in boho style. You can choose dark colors such purple or orange. Take a simple striped Pashmina scarf and simply wrap it around your neck, let the loose ends fall behind.
    2. If you are wearing a white or a light colored dress, spice it up by wearing a bright, multicolored scarf. Now, simply wear your scarf in the front, allowing the loose ends to fall behind.
    3. If it is winter, drape the shawl in circular pattern. Pin it up at the shoulders.
    4. Take one end of the scarf in front; let the other end go behind, after draping it around the neck.
    5. In summer season just tie the Pashmina at the end of your handbag.Visit our Pashmina Catalog at www.asraistyle.com

I LOVE ALL THINGS BOLLYWOOD AND INDIAN INSPIRED .

My favorite things about this Style are the lovely color,  Accessories, Sari's, and of course the Pashmina !

I pretty much like many kinds of styles .

I suppose that's the meaning of Eclectic . I don't wear cameos everyday , or trends . I usually wear whatever I feel like wearing , and I like to mix it up . I wore only black and white for over 8 years and alot of the time I would throw on P.J.'s after work . Maybe that's why I don't like to get stuck on anything in particular. I do lean towards Bohemian Styles or Vintage Styles , but am open to so many trends. My husband helped me name my blog , and he said I could take a rag and make a rose out of it . I love him for that ! I wanted to name it just Rags2Roses , but it was taken by a plant store . Go figure .

I started shopping at thrift stores around the mid 80's ( I Know ! ) and remember buying a simple deep red "old" lady dress that had a vintage pin on it . My first thrift . I threw on a pair of boots - the kind that looked like Elf boots - and attatched the pin to the front flap of a camping style hat . My best friend loved it and I was hooked. I could dress better and use my imagination for a couple bucks. Those days are long gone , but the thrill of a good find at a thrift store still makes my heart flutter ! And, the fun of wearing all kinds of styles and trying out new ones still makes me happy . I hope I never get "stuck" in a particular style and my imagination continues to be fueled by changing trends and cool bloggers !

Just some rambling !

SOMETIMES IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SHOES

After reading a bunch of blogs over the weekend, I have realized I won't do anything for Fashion !
1. Dye my hair gray.
2. Inflate any part of my body that I deem too small.
3. Wear tights with Vericous Veins already drawn on them.
4. Wear socks over my 10 inch platforms.
5. Wear 10 inch platforms !

But sometimes it's all about the Shoes. Especially when I thrifted these lovlies from Nine West for $6 bucks!
Yes, I wobbled, twisted my ankle a few times and kicked them off as soon as I came through the door, but Boy did they look good ! I am a sucker for tall, sexy shoes even though I don't wear them well. In fact, they just aren't really comfortable. But, Boy did they look good !

Sorry, I couldn't stop snapping photos! That song about "when you get close, tie me to the bedpost" was
on the radio as I was getting ready to leave! My neighbors must love me!

UPDATE! The song is by eve six ! I love it !

Many Layers!

I usually have more to say, but was jammin' !

The Deets.

It's all about the Shoes!

( My niece does this in all her photos! )
I hope it's not something offensive!
